Karen Horne is pleased to participate in this fascinating exhibition exploring a wide range of belief and spirituality. It features over 200 works in a variety of media from oils to fiber. Karen’s piece captures the iconic St. Francis Bascilica Cathedral in downtown Santa Fe, a scene she has regularly experience in her travel there.
Here’s the artist’s statement about her accepted piece:
“I’m awed by the way historic cathedrals, temples, and other religious buildings serve as physical symbols of divine glory. Whenever I visit Santa Fe, I’m so aware of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis, a monumental stone church. With its grand facade, it serves as a focal point for the neighborhood, a community gathering place, and visually transports visitors to another sphere. In this painting, I aimed to capture how this cathedral rises up in the background, silhouettes pedestrians, and provides a spiritual and architectural touchstone.”

Karen Horne, Evening Walk in Santa Fe, 20×16, pastel, 27×23 w frame. $1,880. Hung in the Dumke gallery. Available through the museum.
