Painting Reinstalled in the Capitol Theatre

We are excited to announce that the Salt Lake County Art Collection has reinstalled and lit “Capitol Theatre – Braving the Rain” by Karen Horne for the Fall 2019 reopening of SLC’s beloved Capitol Theatre. This dramatic oil painting of patrons rushing to the theatre’s marquee is from the artist’s ongoing, award-winning SLC series celebrating notable downtown landmarks. It can be viewed on the first floor, new addition corridor, north of the elevator. It was donated to the collection by a generous collector of Karen’s who is also a fan of the performing arts. “Capitol Theatre – Braving the Rain” is one of two artworks by Karen Horne owned by the County Collection.
