Karen Horne was honored to be invited to take part in Salt Lake City Mayor Mendenhall’s inaugural gala, “Night of 1,000 Trees.” Held at the Union Pacific Depot, a building Karen has painted often! Her assignment, to do create a painting onsite celebrating trees, and the mayor’s timely tree initiative. She chose to paint a scene in pastel of a vivid tree she observed this past fall in Liberty Park. Many thanks to the Utah Cultural Alliance for the opportunity, and to the new Mayor for including Karen and two mural artists at this event, putting the spotlight on SLC’s rich local culture.
